This study aimed to design and validate a poststructuralist approach model to improve the quality of instruction in the Architectural Design 5 course. It focused on four key questions: identifying existing weaknesses, defining poststructuralist components, presenting a proposed model, and evaluating its effectiveness in enhancing instructional quality. The study’s significance lies in aligning educational methods with the evolving scientific and practical demands of the field.
An exploratory mixed-methods approach was employed. In the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews with experts were conducted to diagnose curriculum issues. Additionally, using qualitative meta-synthesis and analysis of 96 selected articles out of 325 documents, the core components were identified. Data were analyzed using ATLAS.ti software. The proposed model included 10 elements: curriculum logic, objectives, content, learning activities, instructor, materials and resources, grouping, location, timing, and evaluation—supported by 83 indicators. The model’s validity was confirmed using Kendall’s coefficient of concordance and feedback from six experts in curriculum design and architecture.
In the quantitative phase, a quasi-experimental method was used: the experimental group received training based on the poststructuralist approach, while the control group followed traditional instruction. Post-test results revealed a significant improvement in the instructional quality of the experimental group compared to the control group, confirming the model’s positive impact on learning outcomes.
The findings demonstrated that the proposed model successfully enhanced the quality of Architectural Design 5 instruction and effectively addressed national educational and temporal needs. This model provides a foundation for improving educational systems and implementing more efficient architectural design training programs.
