Background and aim: After the outbreak of the coronavirus in the world, educational systems began to use the "virtual education" method in their programs. The present study aimed to investigate the lived experiences of mothers of elementary school students from virtual education.
Data and method: The approach of the current research was qualitative and phenomenological. The target group of the research was all the mothers with students of the second year of elementary school in a district of Yazd city in the academic year of 2021-2022, and 14 of these mothers were selected through the "purposive" sampling method. The criteria for entering and exiting the field of study was that mothers had at least two years of virtual education experience at home during the Corona era. After reaching theoretical saturation, data collection was completed. The research tool was "in-depth semi-structured interview" and Smith's data analysis method was used. To determine the validity of the data, the opinion of some qualitative researchers and the participants in the study were used.
Findings: By examining the lived experiences of students' mothers from face-to-face and virtual education, 9 main themes and 25 sub-themes were extracted from these concepts. The themes of effective parental participation and supervision, educational efficiency and effective economic aspect, in response to the question of the positive aspect of virtual education; The themes of educational issues and technical issues, in response to the question of the negative side of virtual education and the themes of public support, monitoring and evaluation, solving infrastructure and educational problems and integrating virtual and face-to-face education, were obtained in response to providing a solution to improve face-to-face and virtual education.
Conclusion: In general, virtual education has its own advantages and disadvantages, and integrating virtual and traditional education in schools can effectively improve the quality of education.
