Objective: This study examines the role and impact of the "Day Without a Backpack" program in promoting students' practical, social, behavioral, and motivational skills in elementary education. Employing a qualitative approach, it analyzes teachers', school administrators', and parents' lived experiences to explore various facets of the program's effectiveness from stakeholders' perspectives. The main research question is: How do educational interventions within the "Day Without a Backpack" framework influence children's non-cognitive and motivational skills? Additionally, what are the facilitating and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation? Methods: An exploratory mixed-methods design was used, combining a descriptive-analytical quantitative component with qualitative analysis of experiential data. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews, which were analyzed through open, axial, and interpretive coding techniques. Results: Findings reveal that the "Day Without a Backpack" program significantly enhances students’ confidence, creativity, motivation, and social and personal skills. Teachers and administrators reported that the initiative fosters a more positive school climate, boosts students’ morale, and encourages greater participation in group activities. Nonetheless, challenges such as limited facilities, organizational inconsistencies, and the need for specialized teacher training highlight the importance of strengthening professional and managerial capacities. The roles of school leadership in planning, monitoring, support, and active parental engagement are critical for the program’s sustainability and effectiveness. Conclusion: Overall, the results suggest that continuous development of this approach necessitates structural reforms, investments in teacher education, and policies grounded in practical and educational experiences. Systematic, evidence-based actions are essential to sustain and enhance students’ non-cognitive, social, and motivational skills in elementary schools.
